Let's take a look at each step, so you know what to expect.
Step #1 Find Your Perfect Press
Finding the perfect press that meets your printmaking needs, is the right size for your studio, and fits in your budget can be tough. Don't worry. We are here to help.
We'll walk you through the different press options, sizes, configurations, and printing capabilities of each of our presses.
If you still have questions about different press options after browsing our site, please give us a call (231) 893-7455. We'd be happy to answer any press, studio, or printmaking questions you may have to help you find the right press for you.
Step #2 Place Your Order and Deposit
Once you have decided on the perfect press, you are ready to place an order!
On all press orders, we required a non-refundable minimum deposit of 25% when the order is placed. The initial deposit can either be paid by credit order (online or over the phone) or by check.
The remaining balance of 75% must be paid by check and will be due prior to shipment.
See our terms for more details.
Step #3 Build Time
We build all of our presses to order. That means your press is customized and built specifically for you.
After your order is placed and we have received your deposit, we will start work building your dream press.
Our typical build time ranges from 30-45 days for smaller table top presses and 6-8 weeks for larger floor model presses. We'll keep you updated during the building process to give you an idea on when you can except to receive it.
Step #4 Final Payment & Shipment
Once we finish building your press, we'll reach out to tell you the good news: Your press is done and ready for you to start printing on it!
At this point, we will go over final payment amounts and options.
We require final payments to be made by check.
Once your final payment is received, we'll start the shipping process.
We work with all of the largest shipping companies across the world to ensure that you save as much money as possible on shipping costs. We'll choose the best carrier for your area, contact you about what days are best for delivery, and schedule your press shipment.
We ship all of our presses on LTL trucks (Semi-trucks), so it's important that you let us know about any delivery obstructions like narrow roads, unpaved roads, or gravel driveways before we ship your press.
The Semi-truck driver will only be required to wheel your press out of the truck and leave it at curb. It will be your responsibility to get the crate from curbside to your studio. We can help with special accommodations if needed. Please let us know.
Step #5 Meet Your New Press
Most Conrad presses ship completely assembled and pre-calibrated, so you won't need to put anything together before you start printing (with the exception of a stand for a tabletop press). Certain models require light assembly due to shipping requirements.
Once your press is delivered and you have the crate in a working area, you can start uncrating it.
Smaller tabletop presses are shipped on palettes and covered with a heavy duty, double-wall corrugated box and wooden frame.
Larger floor model presses are shipped in fully enclosed wooden crates.
Simply remove the packaging and crating to see your new press for the first time. At this point, you can take a step back and get excited. :)
Then unbolt it from the palette and move it into place in your studio.
Step #6 Pull Your First Print
Now that your new press is set up in your studio, it's time to pull your first print. The press comes calibrated and ready to print, so ink up the plate you have been waiting to print and pull the first print on your new press.
Then send us a picture of your print and your new press in your studio. We love to see where our presses call home and the creativity artists bring to them.
